 Mindstorm Studios flagship event, Winter Game Jam 2023 is finally here! We have had some amazing participants come our way from your esteemed institution and would love to have even greater representation this time around! Please help us spread the word. Attached below is all the required information on the game jam required for dissemination.

The registration for Mindstorm Studios Winter Game Jam 2023 is open! This is a ten-day event in which students and professionals from all academic backgrounds, from any part of Pakistan, can participate remotely and in-person in the form of teams to build a mobile game on globally used industrial standards. Furthermore, participants will receive one-on-one mentoring from our experienced studio team at every step of the way to help them.

  1. Registration

  • The registration process for the Winter Game Jam is a 2 step process. Filling the initial registration form is the first step – https://labs.mindstormstudios.com/winter-game-jam-2023/

  • Once this form has been filled by the team captain, details regarding the second (and final) registration step will be communicated with you, which will cover information regarding your team members.  

  • The deadline to register for the game jam is 15th February 2023.

  1. Eligibility and Team Formation

  • Participant(s) in the form of a team of 1-5 people can register for the event.

  • Each team will have a captain, who is responsible for filling this form and any associated documentation throughout the game jam life cycle. Each team has to submit any form (including this) only once.

  • Although a participant can enter the game jam as a solo candidate, we strongly feel that being part of a team really helps in optimising the overall work flow pipeline. Ideally, each team should have at least 1 programmer, designer and artist, so that resources are present to complete the game building process. However, this depends entirely on you how you want the composition to be.

  1. The Game Jam 

  • The game jam will commence from 20th February 2023.

  • Discord will be the primary mode of communication for the game jam. A Discord team channel will be made for each team, once the registration closes. You can post your queries, updates and all important game building related queries in the channel.

  • The event can be attended both online remotely OR in-person at Mindstorm Studios in Lahore.

  • Unity will be the only engine allowed to develop games in the game jam. For arts, your team can choose to work on any 2D and 3D software(s).

  • Teams will be tasked to create a mobile game on a specific theme.

  • An orientation will be held before the start of the game jam, which will contain the general rules, theme announcement, do’s and don’ts, result criteria, etc. 

  • Mentorship will be given to all team members from leading industrial experts to help them all along the game building pipeline.
